Calcium lignosulfonate is a water-soluble anionic natural polymer obtained from the modification of the structure of paper pulp waste. One of the advantages of this natural polymer is its non-toxicity and corrosiveness and its biodegradability. Like other surfactants, lignosulfonate contains a non-polar hydrocarbon chain (aromatic rings) and polar anionic groups (sulfonate groups).
